Job Security Peers Bank Accounts Vacations Stocks and Bonds Savings Accounts

Do you know what it means to get a pink slip when you are on the job? Well, it means that you are about to get an exit interview because you just did not work hard enough to keep your job. In today’s society, it is not a great feeling at all when you get your notice that you are going to be laid off or that your boss just came into your office or your cubicle and asked you to box up your stuff and leave immediately. Today, we have to do all that is necessary to work hard for your earnings as you never know when your company is going to down size or close its doors permanently. At the same time, it is important to work hard for your money because this will prove not only to yourself but to your peers that you know what you are doing and that you work hard.

Job Security

Working hard for your earnings is so important. Most of the time it is going to mean job security. It shows your supervisor, manager and the ownership of the company that you care about your job, keeping them successful as well as yourself and knowing that your bank account is growing. It also means that you can pay your bills and most of the time, you can pay them on time. Without the go-get-them attitude, you will lose interest in the job that you currently have and this will show among those who sign your paychecks that you are losing interest and they will probably not take the time to work with you and just let you go.

Job security used to be the thing of the day not long ago, but it very rarely exists today. All you had to do was show up for work, be professional and be prompt. Other than that, nothing else really seemed to matter. Today, job security very rarely exists. This is true even in the public sector, even though the government is hiring at a much faster and higher rate than the private sector.

Bank Accounts

Because of today’s economic down turn, we see that our checking accounts, savings accounts and our stocks and bonds seem to be shrinking much faster than they used to. So, again, it is extremely hard to work hard for the money that you are earning. It used to be no problem getting that ten dollar an hour job and working forty hours a week because the tax rates were not so high and we were keeping more of our money than ever. Not true today. With rising food and gas prices, it is hard to get by on that ten dollar an hour job. It is hard to even put what you are earning in the bank account because you are probably spending it faster than you can watch it grow.

Things you want are costing more.

There is much that we want in life and in order to get them, we have to earn our keep which means working hard for the money that we are earning. We have to stay on top of our work load and we have to do what we do well. So, if you want that special something, that much needed vacation or the ability to go out on weekends, we better do what it takes to work hard for those special things we want in life.
