Who Isn’t getting a Tax Rebate this Year and why

There are many people who won’t be getting a tax rebate this year. Obviously, situations and circumstances will vary with each individual case. Of course, there are some given reasons why a person won’t be getting a refund.

The most obvious reason that a person won’t get a refund is if they don’t fill out a return. IRS is not just going to cut you a check for no reason. You have to fill out a return and send it to them. They will go over the paperwork you sent and they will send you the money they owe you. If you don’t do a return, it’s your own fault that you will get no money back.

The leading cause for not getting a tax refund back for most folks is child support. If you have been order to pay support for a child, you will, one way or another. If you owe back pay, the state will keep your refund. There is no way around it. If you don’t want to pay child support, don’t have unprotected sex. If you want a tax refund, stay current on your child support payments, plain and simple.

If you have unpaid debts and there have been judgments made against you then, it is likely that you won’t get a check. This can include unpaid hospital bills, damages on rental property, and anything else you could have been sued for in the past. Bill collectors will get their money. You can avoid them all day long but when they are ready to be paid, they will be, whether you like it or not.

Another common reason that your check could be kept is student loans. This is why it is very important to read the fine print when you get aid for college. If you don’t pay back the money you owe in a timely manner, it will come out of your refund.

If you didn’t work during the tax year or your only source of income is disability checks or welfare, you are not going to get a check. The IRS isn’t going to give money to those who didn’t pay in any taxes. Besides, disability and welfare is government money (in most cases.) In this example, you have no qualifying reason to fill out a tax return and no cause for a refund.

If you have underpaid your taxes, are being audited, or owe money to the IRS: you are not going to get a refund. In fact, until the money is paid, you will not get a refund. It doesn’t matter how long it takes.

Those who are incarcerated also do not get a refund. This is the same for drug-dealers, tax- invaders, and anyone else who is breaking the law. You also must have a social security number. Illegal aliens don’t get refunds. Neither do those who work for cash under the table.

Most of the reasons that a person wouldn’t get a refund are pretty cut and dry. It’s common sense if you take the time to think about it. If you have read all these reasons and still wonder then you should check with the IRS. The only way to know for sure is to check the status of your return or call the IRS directly. They are sure to have an answer for you. If they don’t know, then there is something seriously wrong.
