The largest category at most thrift stores is the clothing selection. You can get several items at a thrift store for a fraction of the price you would pay in a retail store. Many stores also receive donations of small appliances such as bread machines, toasters, coffee makers, and others that are still in good condition or never used. Some couples donate wedding gifts they receive and do not want or have duplicates, so the donated items are brand new.
Books and DVDs
Along with clothing, most thrift stores have an over abundance of books. If you read a lot, it is a good source of reading material besides checking books out from the library. There may be books that you are interested in reading more than once; this is one way to save money on those books. It is also a great place to find inexpensive books for children. Most thrift stores also have a wide selection of DVDs.
