Top Reasons why Breckenridge is the new Real Estate Hotspot

Unlike Aspen and nearby Vail, Breckenridge hasn’t hit the peak of its real estate boom. It is a vital, growing area becoming known for its wide variety of year-round activities in addition to its well known ski and snowboarding competitions. Property values are sure to increase in the near future.

With its four peaks and world famous Breckenridge Ski Resort, it’s most well known for winter sport activities. The resort has 29 lifts leading to smooth, groomed trails and killer powder and offers the highest chair lift in North America.

The town receives approximately 300 days of sunshine a year. Winter temperatures vary from the high 20s during the day to a low in the mid teens at night. Summer highs can range around 70 to 80 while cooling down to the 50s at night.

While the number of permanent residents number around 3000, during the peak season the count rises to over 35,000. At almost $30,000, the per capita income is higher than the state average. Breckenridge is clearly an upscale area.

The town and Breckenridge Ski Resort have worked together to create a master plan that guides and manages development through 2023. This includes a gondola which will connect the town and the resort. Skiers can ski from several parking areas to the Four O’clock Run.

Besides skiing and snowboarding, winter activities include ice skating, snowshoeing, sleigh rides, and tubing. Finish a day on the mountain with a romantic dinner sleigh ride. For the less romantically included, there are dog sled and snowmobile tours.

Summer activities abound. The entire family can enjoy golf, hiking, fishing, kayaking, tennis, soccer, music festivals and live theater. You can even take a hot air balloon ride. If you still long for winter sports, there is one year- round ice rink.

For the kids, there is a large arcade, the Children’s Museum, MiniMites hockey, and lots of ski, snowboarding, and skating lessons. In the spring there is the Kids Easter Party Weekend. The ULLR event honors the Norse God of Snow. The festival parade is unofficially the world’s craziest parade.

There is world-class shopping at the almost 200 shops, boutiques and art galleries. Spas offer every luxury including holistic treatments.

Founded as a base camp in the gold rush of 1859, Breckenridge is known for its historic district that boasts over 350 historic structures. The Gold Pan Saloon is the oldest continuously operated bar west of the Mississippi. You can go underground and tour the nearby Country Boy Mine or pan for gold.

Whether you are looking for a vacation home, investment property, or a permanent residence, Breckenridge offers many opportunities and activities for the entire family.
