New Smyrna Beach, Florida
Best, Undiscovered Location for Vacation Rental Property
In May, we discovered a beautiful, largely undiscovered location in Florida. With a family of four (two adults, a teenager and a tweenager) and for a week or longer rental, we tend to avoid hotels and search for rental properties. We begin our search via the internet. This year Florida was our desired destination. Affordability, comfort (personal space, you know) and family friendly atmosphere are our targets in a rental. The internet search led us to www.vacationrentals.com. Here you actually pick your location, search the properties, then contact the actual owners via email (or phone) for availability and price. We searched several areas with which we were familiar and literally stumbled upon New Smyrna Beach. Our first reaction – never heard of it! Then we decided to check out the available vacation rentals, everything is there at www.vacationrentals.com from studios to magnificent homes available by the week or the month. We contacted about 10 owners who had properties in our price range and available dates of travel. Everyone replied within 24 hours. The replies were friendly and helpful. All the deals were good, each of the vacation rentals had reasonable rates, most include everything you could possibly need. We picked a great one oceanfront condo, fully equipped, beautifully decorated, two bedrooms, two baths, sleeper sofa, full living area (cable/HBO/DVD), dining area, kitchen (dishwasher, too), balcony, and a large pool. PERFECT! Let’s go!
As you head into Florida, pass by the metropolis of Jacksonville, the NASCAR/Tourist mecca of Daytona Beach and head just a little further south to the cool, casual New Smyrna Beach, Florida. New Smyrna Beach touts itself as the second oldest city in America’. It is located just a few miles south of Daytona Beach, about thirty minutes drive north of the Kennedy Space Center, and just an hour’s drive east of Orlando. New Smyrna Beach is the perfect Florida vacation location. Beautiful beaches, turquoise surf, trendy shops, fabulous food, and lots of nearby attractions. It is the place to go if you desire a relaxing, sunny beach oasis but it is near enough to the action if that is what you are looking for (if you can tear yourself away from the beach). The atmosphere is casual and family friendly.
The beach is white packed sand perfect for walking, biking, sunning and playing (part of New Smyrna Beach is drive on beach and part is no drive beach). The surf is awesome lots of skim boarding, boogie boarding, surfing and wind surfing possibilities. Beyond the beach stroll along Canal Street and Flagler Avenue for quaint, trendy, eclectic shopping and maybe even a souvenir. Stop in for dinner and drinks or a special treat in one of the restaurants along the way (try Treats on the Beach for imaginative and delicious ice cream treats we wentmore than once!) Rent a bike or surfboard in one of the surf shops for your stay. We also tried and enjoyed Stella’s Skyline Caf (grab a $25.00 restaurant certificate at www.restaurant.com) on Route 1 and Manny’s Beachside Pizza on A1A.
In addition to www.vacationrentals.com, check out www.nsbfla.com for other rental options again from homes to condos to bed and breakfast inns. New Smyrna Beach is truly a dreamy oasis in the central Atlantic coast area of Florida. It remains pristine and undiscovered, a perfect place for your next vacation rental.
