The Best Things In Life Are Free

What can you do for recreation for little money or nothing? Well, that depends upon you and your interests.

What exactly interests you? Do you like to window shop without buying anything? Do you like to go to flea markets just for the fresh air and the exercise? Do you like to go to the park to see the birds and other animals and people?

Do you have a boat to ride in out on a lake or a river? Do you like to go treasure hunting with a metal detector?

Do you like to play card games or go swimming or go fishing? Perhaps some of you will just spend the days watching television. Some people like to cook for themselves. That is certainly less expensive than dining out in a restaurant or at a food truck or some food stand in a shopping mall, right?

Maybe you have an interest in building models such as model airplanes, cars and/or boats. Maybe you like to put together jigsaw puzzles. Maybe you like to paint pictures or take pictures with a camera. Then again, maybe you like all of those activities.

As you think about your interests you begin to realize that you can do many things for little or no money out of your pocket.

You might have a love interest that you can share some of your interests with. How much does it cost to just drive yourself and a friend to a flea market or a shopping mall, or to a park? One way or another you were going to go to those places so why not share that time with a friend.

Near where you live there might be a museum and/or a library where you can read magazines and newspapers for free. You can get a library card and take out books of interest that you can read at home for a week or two.

How long does it take to read a book? I suppose that depends upon how many pages that book has for you to read. Yes, you can study many subjects of interest and increase your knowledge of the world and its people.

You can read a book about a foreign country and its people. You can learn a foreign language as you plan a vacation to that foreign country. Then again, you do not have to go to that foreign country when you can read about it at the library or at home.

How much does it cost to study the history of the world? That depends upon how much world history you want to learn. As a matter of fact, you can spend many years just reading about world history.

On the other hand you can just study certain periods of history like the Civil War or World War I or World War II. Some say that about half of the world’s history is about wars of one kind or another.

For those of you who do not know, the industrial revolution war not a war, but the advancement of technology. Let’s face it, ordinary life and peace is not and interesting thing to write about from an historic point of view.

As you can see from above, there are many things that you can do without spending much money or no money at all. Just remember that if you keep yourself busy each day the days will pass quickly and you will have more to think about than growing old and passing away.
