Retirement in Central America Baby Boomers Retiring to Costa Rica Retirement in Nicaragua

Retirement in COSTA RICA or NICARAGUA for Baby boomers

Imagine waking to the most spectacular ocean views on the Pacific coast. Think of spending your days enjoying sand, warm surf, or perhaps a round of golf. Picture watching a glorious coastal sunset before heading out to join your friends in your favorite village restaurant. Then see yourself doing it all again, and again, and again.

That’s life in some of the many communities in Costa Rica or Nicaragua. Living abroad during retirement is becoming increasingly easy. Social Security allows you to receive and cash your checks almost anywhere. Tax incentives for retirees and lack of restrictions for foreign land ownership have made Costa Rica and Nicaragua  very popular destinations.

Many retirees are choosing to move to a place where the cost of living is lower and the medical facilities are good. A place where the climate is mild and you can live in the luxury of a vacation resort year round, for a fraction of the cost of maintaining your current lifestyle.

If your retirement nest egg has taken a beating recently, your prospects for retirement living in the United States may seem grim right now. On the other hand, if you spend half the year some place where the cost of living is significantly reduced and rent out your U.S. home while you’re away, your retirement funds could expand. Retirement could go from a source of concern to a cause for excitement.

According to the U.S. Census Bureau, Americans are living longer, healthier lives than ever before. The fastest-growing age group is over 85, with people over 65 expected to account for 20 percent of Americans by the year 2030. Unfortunately, the U.S. Survey of Consumer Finances found that more than half of Americans are not saving enough to fund their retirement.

This Snowbird approach to retirement isn’t new. Retirees from upstate New York and the Dakotas have been migrating south for decades. The difference today is that they’re migrating farther south. Costa Rica in particular  has become the new Florida, the top choice among Americans looking to escape winter back home by spending that season in far sunnier climes. Costa Rica is a safe country with over 100 years of democracy and a disbanded army since 1948. The country boasts of the most beautiful rainforest, with an abundance of tropical plants and over 40 species of birds including the macaw. The howler and the white faced monkeys are also very popular and can be seen all over Costa Rica.

If the idea of retiring either in Costa Rica or Nicaragua appeals to you then I suggest you join one of the specialized tours or seminars where  you can find out more about living in either country and  visit all the beautiful sites of both Costa Rica and Nicaragua. You will learn all you need to know before taking the plunge. You will visit rainforests, enjoy thermal waters and spectacular waterfalls with a spectacular Volcano in the background and see wildlife en route.

Nicaragua is a safe place to live and do business in. This country is in the middle of a boom trend that has seen millions of dollars in infrastructure improvements and foreign investment, tourism is thriving and three consecutive administrations have continued to pass legislation assuring land ownership rights for both foreigners and Nicaraguans. This means the country is on the right track.
