How to Save Money when Shopping at Walmart or Walmartcom

Walmart usually has good deals on a lot of items, but there are ways to save even more at Walmart by doing a little preparation. By following the tips below, you can maximize your savings and keep some extra money in your pocket the next time you shop at Walmart (or Walmart.com).

Look for deals

You can find local deals for your neighborhood Walmart in mailed or in-store circulars, but you can also find them on Walmart.com – just click on Local Ad toward the top of the page. A digital copy of the circular will be displayed, showing deals at your local Walmart that are going on now. If the Walmart location specified isn’t the one you want, you can change it to any Walmart to see if there are different deals on items you need.

Use coupons

Like most stores, Walmart accepts manufacturers’ coupons, but they also provide their own store coupons. You can find these coupons on Walmart.com by clicking on the Printable Coupons link on the left side of the page or on the bottom of the page, or by going straight to coupons.Walmart.com. Several pages of coupons will likely be available, and you can select the ones you want. There are coupons for all sorts of products, from diapers to frozen food to toiletries. Click on the box next to “CLIP” for the coupons you want, and when you’ve found all the coupons you can use, click on Print Coupons to print them out. (You may have to install a coupon printer program the first time.) These coupons can be redeemed at Walmart, but you can’t use them for shopping online.

In addition to manufacturers’ coupons and Walmart coupons, Walmart will even accept some competitors’ coupons. If you have coupons for another store, you can get all your shopping done in one place by using those coupons at Walmart. Read Walmart’s coupon policy for complete details and restrictions.

Buy in bulk

Buying in bulk is a good tip for saving money just about anywhere you shop. In many cases, buying a four-pack or six-pack of something, such as facial tissues or cookies, will cost slightly less than buying four or six individual packs. For example, a 10-pack of six-ounce CapriSun juice drinks currently on Walmart.com is $2.48, but a 30-pack of the same juice (different flavor, but there are several to choose from) would only be $5.98. That’s only about twice the price for three times the number of drinks.

However, you have to be careful when buying in bulk. Sometimes bulk items may not be as good of a deal as they seem to be. For example, one 1.45 pound container of Similac Advance powder formula is $23.98 right now on Walmart’s website, but a six-pack of the same formula is $147.48. If you buy the six-pack, it comes out to $24.58 per container – more expensive than if you had bought them individually.

Buy Parent’s Choice

Parent’s Choice is Walmart’s store brand for baby products. Walmart sells Parent’s Choice diapers, formula, wipes, and more. Parent’s Choice formula compares with Enfamil formula, so it’s not like you’re buying an inferior product. Because it’s the store brand, Parent’s Choice products are much cheaper than their name-brand counterparts.
