How to Improve your Fitness without Breaking the Bank

Improving your fitness doesn’t have to break the bank, as there are plenty of ways you can get some exercise which don’t cost anything. You therefore need to put out of your mind the idea that it is essential to join a gym if you want to get fitter, as this clearly isn’t true. You don’t have to spend a small fortune in order to join a gym that you will rarely use or buy some exercise equipment that will be used once or twice before being put into storage somewhere. If you think about your ordinary day there are plenty of opportunities to get some exercise.

Walking is always a good place to start, as you don’t have to be extremely fit to begin with and it is something that you have to do, anyway. Clearly, if you want to work on your fitness it isn’t enough to count the walk from your car to the workplace when you’ve parked your car only a few metres away! If you’re serious about improving your fitness you may want to leave your car at home and walk all the way to work or into town or anywhere else you need to go. Before you know it you’ll be walking everywhere without having to spend anything.

Running is the next step up from running, but is perhaps harder to do on the way to work, as you’re usually left feeling quite sweaty. However, if you get up earlier in the morning you should be able to go for a run and get back in time to have a shower and get ready for work. You may have to buy a decent pair of running shoes, but apart from this minor expense you don’t have to spend anything to get fitter in this way.

There is always the option of going to aerobics classes, as these are relatively cheap and you get to meet other people. However, an even cheaper option would be to purchase a couple of fitness DVDs that you can use in the comfort of your own home. You may decide that you prefer working out by yourself, without having other people stare at you, and it is particularly handy if you can’t leave the house for some reason, such as not having anyone to look after the kids.

It is therefore clear that you don’t have to break the bank in order to get fitter, as this depends more on how much effort you put into your workouts rather than the activities you choose to do.
