The recent financial crisis has affected me in a negative way, in that it’s difficult for me to get hired for a job. As a result, I get depressed. I don’t feel useful. It’s affected my self-worth. When a goal directed behavior is blocked, frustration results. Here are some steps I’ve taken to correct the situation.
DEALING WITH FRUSTRATION
I deal with frustration through listening to my music, going out for a walk or a drive, reading a good book, watching a good show on television, and spending time with family and friends. I also make the effort to take deep breaths several times a day to release the tension and stress. Talking to my family and friends is also helpful in getting out my frustrations with my life.
KEEPING A POSITIVE OUTLOOK
It’s always important to focus on the things that are important in life. Thinking of the good things and supportive people in my life make the financial difficulties I have a little easier to bear with. I tell myself everday that at least I’m doing something that I enjoy. I write, in that it is my passion. All I can do is have faith that things will some how work out for the best.
PRAYER
Through these difficult financial times, I strive to find comfort and strength in the Lord and look to him for guidance. It also enables me to have balance and become better focused on whatever I strive to do in life.
