I received a gift one year from my mother for Christmas. It was a short outfit, and it didn’t fit right. So my mother told me she had gotten the gift at Target, and to return it there. I needed other items from the store. So I decided to go return the outfit, and get the things I needed.
When I walked in the store I went directly to the customer service counter, to return my item. The first thing that struck me as odd was, right away the counter person told me that the item was originally twenty dollars. However, now it is on sale for nine dollars. So that was all I was getting back. I had heard this from my friends when they returned items to Target, their items all of a sudden went on sale too. I thought it was a nasty business practice, but I was there at Target. I figured I will just get the things I need and leave. The counter person gave me back a Target card for the nine dollars. I went on my way, and got all the items I needed.
I went to the check out. Everything I had gotten totaled around six dollars and some change. Instead of giving me the money back, the counter person proceeds to give me another Target card. I explained to her that I lived around forty five minutes away from the store, and would not drive back to spend the little money left on the card.
The counter person got very angry and called a manager, and they were so rude to me!. They acted like I was trying to steal something. Mean while, all the people in the check out lines were staring at me. I was so embarrassed. Needless to say I have never been back to Target since then.
I have never had any trouble at Wal-mart. All the people that work there are always friendly, and very helpful. I never have a problem with returning things there either. I had to return a coffee maker I had for six months. I did not have a receipt. Customer service at Wal-mart told me to just go get another one and I could exchange it, no problem.
I like how they have everything in one place. You can purchase a pair of jeans, as well as food items. They even have car parts for my car!. They also have the best prices. I will drive a little further to get to a Wal-Mart to save money.
As a consumer I feel if I am spending money in a store, I should at least be treated nicely. I have stopped going to certain places like Target because of bad treatment.
I have shopped at Wal-Mart for years, and will continue to shop there. Good treatment means everything to me.
